At your first appointment, we spend some time building a better understanding of you, your situation and experiences, and your goals for treatment. This is also an excellent opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about neurofeedback, or our treatment process.

QEEG and Brain Maps

The QEEG is a thorough recording of your brain activity, using a head cap. It allows us to generate reports, including Brain Maps, which help us interpret your brain function. Your brain is compared to a database through computer analysis to identify deviations from normal, healthy brain activity.

You, along with family members, teachers, or other close associates, complete an online questionnaire about your experiences and concerns. Based upon your answers, we receive a report that tells us which brain regions are likely to be acting abnormally. Throughout training, you’ll regularly take a brief questionnaire in order to keep track of improvements.

You complete a computer-based assessment that measures cognitive performance in areas such as memory, reasoning, attention, and processing speed.

Analysis and Review

Combining information gathered from your subjective descriptions (the intake and CNC-1020) and our objective measurements of your brain and cognitive performance (QEEG and CNS-VS), we identify specific abnormal brain patterns that relate to your concerns, and make a personalized training plan to encourage healthier brain function. Analysis typically takes about one week, after which you can come in for a Review appointment. We discuss our findings and treatment recommendations with you at this time.

Neurofeedback Training

As part of our analysis, we recommend a training package to you that will best suit your treatment. Level 1 training uses up to 4 channels to measure and influence the electrical activity in your brain. Level 2 training uses 19 channels (a head cap). With the greater number of channels, we are able to record more information about your brain function and provide more complex training. As such, Level 2 training tends to be more intensive and to produce faster results.

Post-Treatment QEEG and Review Appointment

When you’ve completed all of your training sessions, we do a second QEEG and CNS-VS. After this post-QEEG, we schedule a review appointment to discuss with you the changes we’ve seen in your brain function, cognitive performance, and reported symptoms, and to make recommendations for the future.
